You’re kidding? There are two beerblogger conferences? Yes indeed, two of them. Both coming from Zephyr adventures. There is a European and an American version. But it started with the American one in 20120
King of beers
The United States we’re not well known for their large selection of tasty beers. Budweiser was King. Craft Beer? Nonexistent. But that was about to change. Americans who wanted good and real beer started making it themselves. Home brewing flourished.
As with everything some home brewers we’re better than others. The successful ones felt that the rest of the United States should also enjoy their brews. And what can be done in the own kitchen you can also be done on a larger scale. A small sub culture turned into big business. Craft beer is booming, new breweries are opening daily.
Us being jealous
So there was this hip and happening American craft beer scene. And all we could do was read about is. Every now and then a bottle or two would make it over. Now the situation is a little better. Flying Dog and Anchor are relatively easy to come by. And you can also go have a pint at the Beertemple. But still, it’s not enough.
God is a beer blogger!
But now there is evidence that God is a beer blogger. The conference this year is in Indianapolis. My vacation this year is also in Indianapolis. And right around the time of the conference. So it’s up to me to uphold the pride of the Old World. With this sign of God it can only be brilliant.
So what’s the plan? Well there’s live Beer blogging of course. The Spiegelau tasting which we did in Leeds. En much more beergeeky things. And to finish things of, the Indiana Microbrewers Festival is in town. And I’ll be bearing gifts. We have a Westvleteren Bouwsteenbox lying around. Let’s see if we can get that through customs.
Long hot summer
This summer we will drive you crazy with tweets, blog posts and every other social media we can find. You will know we are at the BBC12 in Indy. It’s going to be a long hot summer.
Oh, Arnoud’s not going. He would rather go to France, they have Kronenbourg there.
